The NZSAS Trust was created to support serving and former members of the Regiment and their families. These include those families and dependents whose partners have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the conduct of their duties. The Trust provides grants for children’s education, personal development training, emergency accommodation, groceries, travel and medical care.
Historically, the NZSAS Regimental Assn has worked with the NZSAS Trust to provide educational support for members' families, such as providing access to Outward Bound for children, and financial support for other educational pursuits.
The Royal New Zealand Returned Services Association partners with like-minded organisations to support veterans in need. The purpose of these partnerships are to extend the support work that the RNZRSA does into organisations representing specific groups of veterans. In practice this means the RNZRSA trains Support Advisors and provides resources to them, which in turn allows veteran associations to support their members. In 2019 the NZSAS Regimental Association became an affiliate of the RNZRSA.
The RNZRSA Support Services has trained NZSAS Regimental Assn Support Advisors from across the country. Support Advisors engage with veterans and assist them with claiming entitlements to veterans' benefits, liaising with government departments, applying for grants and coordinating with their local RSA branch to obtain support. The RNZRSA is currently engaging with other veteran associations to expand their support service.
Providing rehabilitation, recovery and respite to our people, who – as a result of their role in safeguarding and caring for New Zealanders – have physical or psychological injuries. We enable our people and their families to continue healthy, positive lives.
This will be achieved through the provision of facilities, equipment, services or assistance for the rehabilitation, recovery and care of such individuals, as well as their immediate families, who are in need.
Veterans' Affairs provides support to all service members who enlisted prior to 1 April 1974 and Vietnam veterans who deployed on operations after that date. They may also assist civilians who deployed on New Zealand operational deployments. They cover such things as medical and mental health, housekeeping and home care, and subsidise travel to former operational theatres.
The New Zealand Fallen Heroes Trust aims to fund projects that make a real difference in the lives of our Fallen Heroes and their families. This charity is focused on helping casualties (killed or injured) of New Zealand’s overseas deployments (since January 1999) and their immediate family members, including:
SSAANZ’s aim is to improve the way serving and ex-service men and women interact with each other through outdoor pursuits, adventurous activity and sporting endeavor. To grow and foster support, friendship and esprit de corps of our respective units and the NZDF community as a whole, which recognises our unique bond and rewards those who have served for their sacrifices.
Pilgrim Bandits New Zealand's primary aim is to help those in need directly, with no compromise. Whether working with injured men and women from the military or emergency services directly or by utilising their experiences to inspire and encourage young people and children through active pursuits. Pilgrim Bandits pushes those that have already endured so much to go beyond endurance – to embrace life again and in so doing inspire others.
