Your donation makes a lasting impact and honours the sacrifices of those who serve. We apply your donated funds towards upholding our Association's four pillars vision:
Your valuable contributions extend far beyond financial support. With your involvement, the NZSAS Regimental Association can continue to provide vital assistance to current and retired members of the NZSAS and their families. Your contributions empower us to offer counselling support, home visits, educational assistance, and to continue collaborating with our third party partners (such as the NZSAS Trust and the RSA) so we can offer a broad range of services to our members.
One of the main events we hold are monthly regional coffee group meet-ups. These are open for all of our members to attend, and are a great way to stay connected, share stories and give support to one another. By running these and other events the camaraderie between our community members is maintained and we are able to check in with each other face-to-face.
Our vision is to establish a safe haven for our community members, a place where they can come together to connect with whenua (land), SAS culture, hinengaro (mind) and tinana (body), wairua (spirit/soul). This sanctuary will be a refuge for families seeking relief from life's pressures, offering a space to unwind and rejuvenate.
In addition, we aspire to create a museum within the Centre to preserve and celebrate our long heritage by showcasing the rich historical artifacts generously donated by the NZSAS and other community's. To add cultural significance, and further foster a sense of community and belonging, we also envision the Centre having a Marae. To turn this vision into reality, we are actively seeking land, essential services, skilled individuals, and financial support. If you share our commitment and would like to contribute to the establishment of our Resilience Centre, we warmly welcome your involvement and contribution.
In 2019 the NZSAS Regimental Association became an affiliate of the RNZRSA. This partnership has helped to provide training to our Area Representatives as well as direct support to our members. The story below highlights how this partnership has helped one of our members.
A former unit member, who worked as a bushman, was suffering a health condition that meant he was unable to spend time in the bush. He was told by health providers that it would be several months before he would be able to see a specialist and an even longer before the surgery could be performed. He would be out of work for nearly a year, which was contributing to a decline in his mental health status. A Support Advisor from the Association arranged for funding from the RNZSRA and the NZSAS Trust so he could have his surgery performed privately. Our veteran was back in the bush within weeks of his procedure.
